UTI’S, ROOT CANALS, AND PAIN MEDS, OH MY!!

The SUO challenge this week is “Mother’s Day”.  This was one of those cards that didn’t quite interpret from my head to the paper just the way I wanted it to…..however, I am okay with it.  After all, I made it while hyped up on Vicoden and Ibuprofen.  I had an “interesting” last couple of weeks.   I barely got over my raging UTI, and had not even finished that round of antibiotics when I developed a RAGING, (all caps for a reason, I mean it was RAGING) toothache.  Of course it started on Saturday, so I suffered thru till Monday and my dentist who is also my boss took an X-ray on Monday, and Oh yes, you definitely have something going on there, most definitely.  A bad abscess under an old crown, no decay.  You don’t know it’s even there until it kicks up and makes itself known.  And when I say KICKS UP, I can only say that I didn’t sit around in pain, I danced around in pain.  A call to the endodontist promised an appt on THURSDAY, but alas, by TUESDAY I was dissolved in TEARS….and my coworkers made some calls at my dentist’s suggestion and got me in that afternoon for the root canal.  So, of course, I thought I would get the root canal and that would be the end of the pain, right? WRONG!! I turned out to be one of the 10% who has worse pain AFTER the root canal then before.  I literally LOST 3 days writhing in pain…missed THREE days of WORK last week, and spent 5 days in pain.  YESTERDAY I stopped taking vicoden and went down to just ibuprofen. BIG DAY.  UTI’s and ROOT CANALS are not among my favorite things.  I told the dentist I work for that this was good for me, to experience first hand what the patients go thru.  However I said that kind of early in the game, before the pain became unbearable….and on second thought I think I could have done just fine without this root canal!!  Life, never a dull moment  – in the middle of all of that my mom also had pneumonia…..so we were going back and forth to the hospital….it was a week to FORGET for sure.  But hey, this is a whole new week, right?  It came to pass, it didn’t come to stay.  Life goes on.  Everybody has troubles, right?  Thanks for listening to my little whine rant.  I move on.  🙂 Tomorrow is a new day, hopefully a dull one. 🙂 Happy Stamping everyone!! Until next time…..Karen

Karen, OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! I am so, so very sorry you went through all of that horror, I can honestly say that I totally feel your pain, being that I had both ailments at one time or another but NEVER at the same time, that must have been unbearable.
That being said however, if I must choose between labor pains and tooth ache pain, I will have labor pains any day!! no kidding!!! Both are bad but at least with labor pains you know it's for bringing your baby into the world and they will end as soon as your baby is born but, tooth ache pains…..oh my Lord, it can literally make you crazy.
I'm glad it's all over for you, I hope and pray you will never have to go through this again!!!!!
Your card is gorgeous, love the texture of the embossed panel and those little flowers are just lovely.
Thank you for sharing your card and your painful experience, please take care.
    Hugs.
    Maria.

Oh My! I am so sorry that you had to endure all of this hardship at one time. Life does have a way of dealing you everything that you could imagine all at once when other times seem almost boring and nothing happens. Keep making your art and documenting your struggle and know that you are not alone. We are all with you!

I was in pain just reading your post. I don't how you ever made it for days with that type pain. Luckily when I went in for my root canal I only felt slight discomfort after the procedure was done. To go all those days, it's a good thing you had those prescriptions or you could have been in even worse shape each day.

There's nothing like an unaddressed dental problem to ruin a person's weekend. Isn't it awesome that modern dental professionals can identify problems, get a person back home quickly, and prescribed some powerful meds to make the recovery simple. Boy, I feel your pain, but am glad you had your dental problems fixed in a hurry. Don't worry about ranting, dental work is no minor thing. It's good you had a professional in your corner for the root canal.
